Uzungöl lies 99 km from Trabzon and 19 km from Çaykara, at an elevation of 1,090 metres above sea level.
The lake in the middle of the valley was formed when rocks falling from the slopes blocked the Haldizen stream. It is known as Uzungöl and gives its name to the surrounding area. The old timber houses of nearby Şerah village complement the beauty of the landscape.
